Prisoners Abroad Caring for Britons held overseas. Find our more about this amazing charity here and how you can help them and contact them. A massive thank you from me to them.
Firstly, I wanted to say a massive thank you to a charity called Prisoners Aboard in the UK. I had never heard of them before, but then why should I? When it came to those in prison I was very much of the view of ‘no smoke without fire’ and ‘throw away the key’. An opinion I now feel terribly ashamed of. I am grateful that my experience in prison has enabled me to see that those in prison, whether innocent or guilty need and deserve our compassion, help and support, especially when those prisoner are in foreign countries.
From my first week in Dubai jail even to the Christmas card they sent me in December 2015 not to mention the book Treasure Islands, and all their support in between, they are truly an amazing charity. A charity that once I am free I will work tirelessly to help.

A bit more about them from their website Prisoners Abroad is the only UK charity caring for the welfare of all British citizens held in foreign prisons.
Many British prisoners overseas experience extreme isolation. In developing countries they can face malnutrition too – with inadequate food, no clean water and no proper space to sleep in overcrowded cells. Serious medical conditions such as diabetes regularly go untreated.
Prisoners Abroad cares for the health and well-being of thousands of British citizens held overseas.
We provide essential services such as:
• vitamins and essential food
• emergency medical care
• water filters
• freepost envelopes to keep in touch with home
• books and magazines
No other UK charity supports British citizens in in this way. We also work closely with British consular officials who frequently refer prisoners and their families to our services.
